Lions dedicate game ball to announcer Dan Miller and family

Published 12 October 2026

Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell dedicated a game ball to longtime radio announcer Dan Miller and his family after Detroit’s 45-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, honoring Miller following the reported death of his wife, Cindy. Campbell announced the tribute during his postgame remarks, holding up the ball and saying it was for Miller and his family. He spoke about Miller’s difficult circumstances and described him as a valued member of the organization. Campbell also said he understood Cindy was at peace and expressed the team’s love for Miller. The Lions’ victory took place in Glendale, Arizona. Miller, the team’s radio play-by-play voice since 2005, was absent from the broadcast. Detroit Tigers announcer Jason Benetti filled in and offered condolences during the game, describing Miller as a remarkable person and a longtime voice of the Lions. Quarterback Jared Goff also spoke about Miller after the win. Goff said the team was thinking of him and described him as an important part of the Lions’ culture. He said Miller’s voice was closely associated with Lions football and that he spoke with him weekly.
