McMillan’s career-best game leads Panthers past Lions

Published 5 October 2026

The Carolina Panthers defeated the Detroit Lions 32-26 on Sunday night in Charlotte, led by wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan’s 14 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns. The performance was a career best for McMillan, and quarterback Bryce Young passed for 329 yards and two touchdowns as Carolina improved to 2-2, according to game accounts. McMillan’s receiving total and touchdown count helped Carolina keep pace in a high-scoring game. Young completed 29 of 41 passes, and running back Chuba Hubbard rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Detroit quarterback Jared Goff threw for 412 yards and a touchdown, but the Lions were held to four field goals before scoring a late touchdown. Carolina built its lead with sustained scoring. The Panthers scored on six consecutive drives, four of them ending in touchdowns, according to coach Dave Canales. Detroit stayed within reach, and a late score cut the margin to six. Carolina’s defense then stopped the Lions on their final possession, preserving the win. The result came as both teams dealt with absences.
