LeBron James Makes Preseason Debut for 76ers
LeBron James made his preseason debut for the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday, starting against the Brooklyn Nets in his first appearance with the team. Philadelphia lost 114-108, and reports gave different accounts of how long James played. One account said James logged 30 minutes and finished with 10 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal. He went 1-for-1 from the field and made all eight of his free throws. A separate first-half account reported that he had 10 points, five assists and four rebounds in 18 minutes, as the 76ers took a 58-56 lead. That account said he attempted one field goal and drew four fouls. The available reports do not reconcile the difference in playing time. James, 41, joined Philadelphia this summer for his 24th NBA season after spending the previous eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. He signed a two-year, $7.95 million veteran-minimum contract, according to one report. Thursday’s game was his first in a 76ers uniform after he sat out the team’s preseason opener against the New York Knicks on Monday. The game also brought James together on court with fellow newcomer Jaylen Brown and returning players Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
