Kentucky Beats No. 10 LSU 35-34 in Overtime
Kentucky defeated No. 10 LSU 35-34 in overtime Saturday, October 10, when quarterback Kenny Minchey ran for the game-winning two-point conversion at Kroger Field in Lexington. The Wildcats rallied to tie the game late in regulation before scoring the decisive points in overtime, handing LSU its second loss of the season. LSU took a 27-24 lead in the fourth quarter on a 41-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Jackson Harris to tight end Roman Mothershed. Kentucky kicker Adam Zouagui missed two field-goal attempts late in regulation, but LSU could not hold its lead. After LSU punted with less than two minutes remaining, Kentucky moved into range for Zouagui to make a 33-yard field goal with 12 seconds left, tying the score at 27 and forcing overtime. LSU had the first possession in overtime. Quarterback Sam Leavitt ran 15 yards for a touchdown, and Scott Starzykâs extra point put the Tigers ahead 34-27. Kentucky answered with a drive that included a 22-yard completion from Minchey to Kenneth Darby and a one-yard touchdown run by C.J. Baxter. Rather than kick an extra point and extend the game, Kentucky went for two.
