JLR unveils electric Range Rover Sport, with 2027 deliveries expected

JLR has unveiled the Range Rover Sport Electric, an all-electric version of its luxury SUV that shares the larger Range Rover Electric’s battery and 800-volt electrical system. The company says deliveries are expected in 2027, but the vehicle will not be available in the United States as a 2027 model. The Sport Electric uses a 118.5-kilowatt-hour battery and two electric motors. JLR’s published range claims vary across reports, from 373 to 378 miles on the WLTP test cycle. Those are manufacturer estimates, not a guarantee of real-world driving distance. A separate estimate of up to 333 miles, reported for both electric Range Rover models using JLR’s own standardized route, is based on a different test and is not directly comparable with the WLTP figures. JLR lists the top specification at about 542 horsepower and 850 newton-metres of torque. The company says the SUV can accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in as little as 4.3 seconds with Dynamic Launch Mode engaged. It also says the Sport’s torque response is 50% faster than that of the larger Range Rover Electric. The vehicle supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kilowatts.
