Jalen Duren agrees to five-year, $200 million Pistons deal

Published 3 October 2026

Jalen Duren has agreed to a fully guaranteed five-year, $200 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, according to his agent and people briefed on the agreement, ending a negotiation that kept the All-Star center out of the start of training camp. The reports did not include a signed contract or an official team announcement. Chafie Fields, Duren’s agent, told ESPN’s Shams Charania that the 22-year-old accepted the deal. A person with knowledge of the agreement separately told The Associated Press that Duren accepted shortly before a deadline to take a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer. That alternative would have positioned him to become an unrestricted free agent in 2027. Duren missed Detroit’s media day and the opening of training camp as the negotiations continued. He returned Friday for meetings and physical testing but did not participate in on-court work. The agreement secures his reported long-term future with the Pistons, though the available accounts do not establish whether he has signed the contract. The final reported figure is higher than earlier proposals.
