Knicks sign Brown, Wiseman to Exhibit 9 deals for roster competition

The New York Knicks have signed former NBA champion Bruce Brown and four other veterans to non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contracts, setting up a competition for one or two final roster spots ahead of training camp. The signings, announced Wednesday, include center James Wiseman, wing Ochai Agbaji, guard John Konchar, and center Drew Eubanks. The players will compete during training camp, which begins September 28, for a standard contract with the defending champions. Brown, a 30-year-old guard, was a key member of the Denver Nuggets' 2023 championship team. He played in all 82 regular-season games for Denver last season, averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. His experience and versatility make him a candidate to fill a depth role for a Knicks team looking to repeat as champions. The Knicks were previously linked to Brown at the 2024 trade deadline when he was with the Toronto Raptors. The other signees bring their own credentials. Wiseman, the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, has struggled with injuries and limited playing time in recent seasons. Agbaji split time between the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets last year, averaging 5.1 points across 62 games.
