Ireland and Austria draw 2-2 after Parrott brace

Published 2 October 2026

The Republic of Ireland and Austria drew 2-2 in their Nations League Group B3 match at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on October 1, after Troy Parrott’s first-half double was erased by two Austrian goals after the break. The result left Austria top of the group and Ireland third, behind Kosovo on head-to-head results. Parrott gave Ireland the lead in the 12th minute, collecting a forward ball before beating two defenders and finishing past goalkeeper Florian Wiegele. He added a penalty shortly before halftime after Ryan Manning was fouled in the box by Nicolas Seiwald. Ireland went into the interval with a 2-0 advantage. Austria responded in the second half through substitutes Alexander Prass and Michael Gregoritsch. Prass scored after Ireland lost possession in its defensive area, with the goal confirmed after a video review. Gregoritsch then curled a free kick past Caoimhin Kelleher to level the match. Reports differ on the precise minute of Austria’s equalizer, so the timing is not stated here. Both sides had opportunities to win late on, but neither found another goal.
