Indian-origin man added to FBI's Most Wanted Fraudsters list

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has placed Indian-origin naturalized U.S. citizen Manjit Singh Bedi on its Most Wanted Fraudsters list, offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Bedi is accused of defrauding the U.S. government of at least $600,000 through a scheme involving the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. According to the FBI, Bedi operated a small grocery store called Asian Grocery Store in Tacoma, Washington. The alleged fraud scheme ran from March 2024 to June 2025. Investigators claim that instead of selling food to SNAP beneficiaries using their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, Bedi swiped the cards and provided customers with cash. He allegedly kept approximately half of the money from these transactions for himself. Bedi was indicted on charges including wire fraud and SNAP benefits fraud. Following the indictment, he was allowed to appear in court without being taken into custody. As a condition of his release, he was ordered to surrender his passport and remain in Washington state.
