Published 4 September 2026

Hyderabad police have arrested Sandeep Anand, the 23-year-old son of prominent Telugu cinema art director Anand Sai, in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian in the early hours of August 31. Sandeep was taken into custody on Tuesday and released on bail from a local court on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. on August 31 on a road connecting the Nanakramguda ORR Rotary and Khajaguda, opposite Ankura Hospital. According to police, 31-year-old Nanda Kishor Kumar Ray, a native of Bihar who had been working as a chef at a nearby restaurant, was crossing the road when he was struck by an Innova Crysta. The driver of that vehicle, 21-year-old Zaid Shah Qadri, stopped at the scene. Along with a passerby, he attempted to carry the injured Ray to a hospital. As the group was crossing the road, two speeding vehicles allegedly traveling from Khajaguda toward the Nanakramguda ORR Rotary struck them before fleeing. Ray died at the scene. Qadri sustained a leg fracture and other injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Gachibowli.
