India seizes 526 kg of drugs from Iranian dhow

India’s Coast Guard and Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad intercepted an Iranian dhow west of Lakshadweep on September 25, seizing about 526 kilograms of heroin and methamphetamine and detaining five Pakistani nationals, authorities said. The drugs were valued at more than 3,000 crore rupees on the international market, according to officials. The operation followed intelligence about a suspicious vessel in the Arabian Sea. Coast Guard assets used sea and air surveillance to track the dhow before pursuing and boarding it, the Coast Guard said. The intercepted vessel, its crew and the seized drugs were taken under armed escort to Mumbai for joint questioning and further legal proceedings.
