Published 10 September 2026

New Delhi is preparing to host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13 at Bharat Mandapam, the convention centre that also hosted the 2023 G20 gathering. The two-day meeting concludes India's yearlong chairship of the expanded bloc, held under the theme Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability, and marks the group's 20th anniversary. According to official participation lists and government confirmations, the summit will draw several heads of state and government, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The Kremlin and the Chinese Foreign Ministry have both confirmed their leaders' attendance. Brazil is expected to be represented at foreign-minister level, as President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is not travelling, and Bangladesh has said it will not send a representative despite being invited.
