CJP plans Delhi march as police cite no permission

The Cockroach Janata Party has announced plans for a protest march in New Delhi on September 5, a move that has prompted Delhi Police to begin security preparations even as officials state that no formal permission has been sought for the event. The march is scheduled to proceed from India Gate to the Delhi Police Headquarters on Jai Singh Road, a distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres. According to the party, the demonstration is expected to be led by families of students who died by suicide following the cancellation and subsequent retest of the NEET examination, as well as individuals who allege they were subjected to police excesses during a previous agitation. The decision was made at a meeting of the CJP National Working Committee on August 25, nearly a month after the group suspended a 36-day protest at Jantar Mantar following talks with the central government. Delhi Police officials confirmed they have not received any application for permission for the march. Deputy Commissioner of Police for New Delhi, Sachin Sharma, stated that any formal request would be evaluated based on prevailing security and law-and-order conditions.
