Gunmen opened fire on a bus near Masyaf Bridge in Homs province on Wednesday, September 30, killing at least seven people and wounding four, according to reports citing Syrian state media and local health officials. The attackers’ identities and motive were not known, and no group had claimed responsibility in the reports. Homs Internal Security Forces commander Bassem Mohammad Shaaban said the bus was carrying company employees home from work. A security source cited in one report said passengers included engineers and workers from a private company, as well as an employee of the Syrian Electricity Company. Authorities had not released the victims’ identities. The injured were taken to hospitals, and security forces began investigating the scene. Shaaban said investigators were pursuing those responsible. Authorities had not named any suspects, and the circumstances of the shooting remained unclear. The bus attack occurred amid other security incidents reported in Syria on Wednesday.
