Guimarães winner completes Arsenal comeback against Leeds

Published 10 October 2026

Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at Emirates Stadium on October 10, with substitute Bruno Guimarães scoring the winner to secure three points in the Premier League’s sixth matchweek. Leeds took the lead 10 minutes into the second half when James Justin finished a low cross from Gabriel Gudmundsson. Arsenal equalised seven minutes later: Ben White headed the ball back across goal, and Riccardo Calafiori turned it in from close range. Guimarães, introduced as a substitute, completed the turnaround with a shot from outside the penalty area after Declan Rice set him up. Reports placed the goal between the 68th and 70th minutes. Arsenal’s accounts of the match consistently identify Guimarães as the scorer of the decisive goal, though the precise minute varies. The result lifted Arsenal to 15 points from six matches, level with Manchester City and behind on goal difference. Leeds remained fifth with nine points. The victory also gave Leeds their first league defeat of the season, according to match coverage. Arsenal had struggled to create clear chances for much of the first half, while Leeds threatened before scoring.
