Fulham lose 2-1 at Ipswich after two late goals

Published 11 October 2026

Fulham’s winless Premier League start continued with a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich on October 10, after the hosts scored twice in the closing minutes. The loss left Fulham in the relegation zone and increased scrutiny of manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who said he was not concerned about his own position. Ryan Sessegnon put Fulham ahead in the 55th minute at Portman Road. Ipswich equalised through Abdoul Ouattara in the 88th minute, then Dara O’Shea headed in the winner during stoppage time. The result extended Fulham’s winless league run to six matches and left Arbeloa without a Premier League victory in his first six games as manager. After the match, Arbeloa said Fulham’s need for points mattered more to him than questions about his job. He acknowledged the team needed results, while saying he did not feel fear and viewed pressure as a normal part of coaching. He pointed to his playing career and coaching experience at Real Madrid as reasons he was accustomed to pressure. The defeat was Fulham’s fourth league loss this season. The club had also conceded after the 75th minute in matches against Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Manchester United, according to the match reports.
