FIFA Asks Florida Court to Block UEFA Evidence Request

FIFA has asked a federal court in Florida to reject UEFA’s request for documents and testimony about an abandoned proposal to place World Cup commercial rights in a company open to private investment. In its court response, FIFA accused UEFA of making false or misleading claims and said the filing could influence the organization’s presidential election, while UEFA says it seeks evidence for a planned criminal complaint in Switzerland. UEFA’s application seeks testimony and records from FIFA Americas, Inc. and FWC2026 US, Inc., two FIFA entities based in Florida. UEFA says the material would support a planned complaint concerning FIFA president Gianni Infantino and the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise, or FFE. The Florida court has not yet ruled on the request, and the available accounts do not establish what evidence, if any, UEFA will be permitted to obtain. The proposal, which was abandoned in July after opposition over consultation and governance, would have transferred commercial rights connected to FIFA events, including the World Cup, to a subsidiary in which private investors could acquire stakes.
