Fiat Multiplay concept converts family car into a pickup

Published 12 October 2026

Fiat has presented the Multiplay, a 4.45-metre concept vehicle designed to switch between a six-seat family configuration and a four-seat pickup. The company describes it as a laboratory for mobility ideas, not a preview of a specific production model. The transformation centres on a sliding rear section that Fiat calls Metamorfosi. In family mode, the concept has three rows and space for six people, alongside a modular Petsenger seat. When the rear module moves forward, the cabin becomes a four-seat pickup with an open cargo bed. Fiat says the bed can carry bicycles, sports equipment and other outdoor gear, although it has not provided dimensions or a payload figure. A rotating rear spoiler becomes an integrated rack that Fiat says can carry two bicycles in pickup mode. The concept also includes a Sunseat arrangement: the front passenger seat can be repositioned to form a chaise longue using the dashboard as a backrest, beneath a panoramic roof. Reports on the design also describe a detachable section of the Petsenger seat that can be used as a leash, with a folding bowl stored in a door compartment. Fiat presented the Multiplay at an event ahead of the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
