Father Speaks After Children's Killer's Mistrial

Patrick Clancy, the father whose three children were killed by his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy in January 2023, has spoken publicly for the first time since her murder trial ended in a mistrial. In an interview that aired on Sunday, Clancy described his profound grief, his decision to forgive his ex-wife, and the impact of baseless online conspiracy theories. Clancy recounted the final moments with his youngest son, Callan, who died days after the attack. He said he pleaded with doctors for just one of his children to survive and held Callan as he died in his arms at Boston Children's Hospital. "I remember just thinking, Just give me one. Just give me one kid, and I would raise him as best I could," Clancy said. He stated that he forgave Lindsay Clancy, attributing her actions to severe postpartum mental illness. "I believe that it was her mental illness that caused that," Clancy said, adding that he feared anger would consume him otherwise. He revealed that Lindsay Clancy described the memory of the killings as dreamlike. Clancy also disclosed that he experienced suicidal thoughts in the aftermath, saying there was a time he did not think he would live to see his 35th birthday.
