Enforcement Directorate searches 10 premises in exam leak probe

Published 10 October 2026

The Enforcement Directorate searched 10 premises in Odisha and West Bengal on Friday as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering linked to a suspected leak of an Odisha police sub-inspector recruitment exam paper. Officials said eight locations were searched in Odisha and two in West Bengal. The searches relate to the recruitment examination, which was scheduled for October 5 and 6, 2025. The Odisha government cancelled the exam after allegations that its question paper had been leaked, according to reports. The case was initially registered by Odisha Police in October 2025 and later transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The Enforcement Directorate is examining the alleged money-laundering aspect of the case, officials said. The allegations include claims that candidates were offered access to the paper in exchange for payments of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh each. Officials and sources said intermediaries approached candidates; one account also said candidates’ original certificates were taken as security. These claims have not been established as findings in the material available.
