Drone strikes damage three Yandex data centres

Published 11 October 2026

Ukrainian drone strikes damaged three Yandex data centres in Russia between October 8 and October 11, disrupting the technology company’s services. Yandex said the Sasovo and Vladimir facilities were shut down and that modules at its Kaluga site were disabled. It reported no injuries and has not given a timetable for restoring damaged equipment. The strikes hit Sasovo on October 8, Kaluga on October 9 and Vladimir on October 11, according to Yandex. Following the attack in Vladimir, the company said it had completely halted operations there and urged customers to activate disaster-recovery plans. It warned that its remaining resources were operating in an unstable configuration while teams assessed the damage. Yandex services affected included ride-hailing, navigation, payments and cloud computing. Users also reported problems with other company services. Yandex Go service interruptions were reported in several neighboring countries; the company said service resumed on October 12 while work to stabilize performance continued. Yandex has said it was assessing the condition of its infrastructure, without specifying when damaged equipment could return to operation.
