Driver escapes injury after train hits Honda in Lagos

Published 9 October 2026

A train struck a Honda at the PWD railway crossing in Lagos on Friday, and the 55-year-old driver escaped without reported injury, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). The collision damaged the car and temporarily disrupted traffic around the crossing, while the cause had not been established in the reports. LASTMA said the train was travelling towards Agege when it collided with the Honda, registration number EKY 902 JT. The agency reported that its operatives and security personnel rescued the driver at the scene. No casualty was recorded, it said. Responders removed the damaged vehicle from the railway tracks, allowing the train to continue towards Agege after the line was cleared, according to LASTMA. Traffic movement around the PWD axis was disrupted as emergency personnel worked at the scene. One account reported that congestion continued after the car was removed. LASTMA said the vehicle was handed to security personnel for investigation. The reports provided no findings on what caused the collision or how the Honda came to be on the tracks. Responsibility for the crash therefore had not been established.
