Railways cancel selected Delhi trains for October 10

Published 9 October 2026

Indian Railways cancelled specified Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations on October 10, citing anticipated severe road congestion around both stations. The cancellations apply to trains departing their originating stations after 2 p.m. on October 9 and due to arrive between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. the next day. The railway order, issued October 9, applies to the stated arrival window, not to every Delhi-bound train throughout the day. Eastern Railway also announced the cancellation of the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, scheduled to depart on October 9. Passengers have been advised to check the status of their individual services before travelling. The cancellations come ahead of a proposed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in Delhi on October 10. Railway officials have not confirmed whether the planned demonstration directly prompted the decision; the stated reason was the expectation of severe congestion near the stations. The railway order said traffic advisories and anticipated road conditions informed the precautionary cancellations.
