Douglas Says He and Turner Had Secret Relationship

Published 2 October 2026

Michael Douglas says in an excerpt from his forthcoming memoir that he and Kathleen Turner began a relationship while filming the 1984 movie Romancing the Stone, reversing their public denials over the decades. Douglas’s account says the romance ended after his then-wife, Diandra Luker, visited the Mexico set with their son, Cameron, and told Turner that Douglas was still married to her. Douglas writes that he and Turner were immediately attracted to each other while working on the film. He says their connection developed into a relationship during production, when he was separated from Luker but still legally married to her. The memoir excerpt describes the relationship as growing from their close work together and mutual affection. According to Douglas, he and Turner had maintained that they had shared strong chemistry and flirted but had not become a couple. He says that account was untrue and that they kept the relationship secret to protect Luker and Cameron. The reports of his disclosure all draw on the same memoir excerpt, so the central account remains Douglas’s recollection rather than independent confirmation from multiple sources.
