Delta postpones Atlanta-Riyadh flights to March 2027

Published 12 October 2026

Delta Air Lines has postponed the planned launch of nonstop flights between Atlanta and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, moving the start from October 23, 2026, to March 2027. The airline said the change comes as attacks and military activity raise safety concerns around the region. The route would be the first nonstop commercial connection between the United States and Saudi Arabia operated by a U.S. airline, according to the supplied reports. Delta had planned to fly the route using an Airbus A350-900. The company has not announced a specific date in March for the service to begin. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a warning on Sunday advising U.S. airlines to exercise caution when flying to or over Saudi Arabia. The notice cites risks tied to military activity and possible interference with navigation systems and remains in effect through December 10, 2026. The FAA said the potential hazards could affect aircraft at all altitudes, including during overflight, arrival and departure. The warning followed attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport over the weekend. Reports agree that Saturday’s attack killed more than 300 people? No.
