Delta plane strikes towed Air Canada aircraft at LAX

Published 6 October 2026

A Delta Air Lines aircraft struck an Air Canada plane being towed after landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday morning, and the Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating. No injuries were reported, according to the airlines. The contact occurred at about 10:30 a.m. local time, as Delta Flight 7 was taxiing for departure and Air Canada Flight AC785 was being moved toward its gate, the FAA and the airlines said. Air Canada said its Boeing 777 had arrived from Toronto and that the left wing of a Delta Airbus A350-900 made contact with the aircraft’s tail. The FAA said the Air Canada plane had stopped short of its gate. Delta said Flight 7 was bound for Tokyo and carried 275 customers and 15 crew members. The airline said maintenance crews and airport teams were assessing its aircraft and that it was working to accommodate customers and evaluate travel recovery options. Delta apologized for the delay and said it would cooperate with any National Transportation Safety Board investigation. Air Canada said no passengers or crew members were reported injured. It said AC785 would be taken out of service for inspection and repairs.
