IndiGo sets new fuel charges for bookings from October 6
IndiGo announced revised fuel charges for new domestic and international bookings made from October 6, 2026, citing higher aviation turbine fuel (ATF) costs. The new charges are structured by distance for domestic flights and by destination and distance for international routes. For domestic journeys, the announced charge is Rs 375 for routes up to 500 km, Rs 600 for 501 to 1,000 km, Rs 900 for 1,001 to 1,500 km, Rs 1,150 for 1,501 to 2,000 km and Rs 1,300 for routes longer than 2,000 km. The charges apply to new bookings from the stated date, not only to travel booked for that day. International charges vary by region. IndiGo set the charge for SAARC routes at Rs 1,000 for journeys up to 500 km and Rs 3,000 for longer routes. The announced charge is Rs 5,500 for flights to Southeast Asia, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Middle East, and North and East Asia. Flights to Africa carry a charge of Rs 6,000, while the charge for Europe is Rs 10,000. The surcharge is added to the ticket cost. IndiGo attributed the change to rising fuel costs, saying the latest month-on-month increase in ATF prices exceeded 14% and had brought costs to among their highest levels in a decade.
