Delhi Gears Up for BRICS Summit With Heavy Security
New Delhi is preparing to host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12 and 13 at Bharat Mandapam, the convention centre that also staged the 2023 G20 gathering. The two-day meeting concludes India's yearlong chairship of the expanded bloc, held under the theme Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability, and coincides with the group's 20th anniversary. The attendance list is extensive. Official participation lists show Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed attending at head-of-state or head-of-government level. Brazil and Saudi Arabia are represented at foreign-minister level, while the UAE delegation is led by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to the published list.
