Dave Grohl Joins AC/DC for ‘Highway to Hell’ at Tour Finale

Published 3 October 2026

Dave Grohl joined AC/DC onstage to perform “Highway to Hell” at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on October 2, as the band closed its Power Up Tour. The Foo Fighters frontman appeared during AC/DC’s set at the rescheduled concert, which the reports describe as the tour’s final date. Before Grohl came onstage, AC/DC singer Brian Johnson told the audience that Grohl had asked to join the band for the song and that they had agreed. The performance brought together Grohl and a band he has cited as an early influence on his musical ambitions. During Foo Fighters’ opening set, Grohl told the audience that seeing AC/DC’s concert film “Let There Be Rock” when he was 11 had shaped his desire to pursue music. He described the film as showing him the energy and intensity of live rock performance, and said he was again living a childhood dream by sharing a stage with the band. The MetLife concert had originally been scheduled for September 25 but was postponed after a nor’easter affected the East Coast. Foo Fighters were announced as the replacement support act for the rescheduled show. They had also opened for AC/DC in St.
