McCartney says Swift requested Beatles song at her wedding

Published 3 October 2026

Paul McCartney said Taylor Swift asked him to perform The Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand” at her wedding to Travis Kelce, and that he invited her to sing along to the song. McCartney recounted the exchange during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He did not say whether Swift accepted the invitation, so it remains unclear whether the performance became a duet. McCartney said Swift made the request while he was at the wedding, held July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York. He told host Jimmy Kimmel that he encouraged Swift to sing the song to her husband. Kimmel responded that the suggestion seemed reasonable. The song was released in 1964 and became The Beatles’ first U.S. number-one single. McCartney’s account identifies it as the selection Swift requested for the celebration. The reports do not provide an independent recording or eyewitness account confirming the details of the exchange or whether Swift sang. There is a separate account that Travis Kelce also sang at the wedding. His brother, Jason Kelce, discussed Travis’s singing on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast.
