Wynonna Judd says O’Donnell assumed her political views

Published 3 October 2026

Wynonna Judd says her longtime friend Rosie O’Donnell assumed she supported Donald Trump without discussing politics with her, while O’Donnell has apologized and said the assumption came from Judd performing at Mar-a-Lago in 2023. Judd described herself as an independent; the exchange does not establish her voting record or whether she supports Trump. O’Donnell called Judd a Trump supporter during an appearance on The Tangle podcast in August 2026, while saying the two had never brought politics up. She said she cared about Judd and was able to set the presumed difference aside in their friendship. In a recent interview, Judd said she had never discussed politics with O’Donnell and called the characterization an assumption. She said she was shocked and confused by the claim but was not angry, adding that she did not want the disagreement to become a source of drama. O’Donnell later explained that she had inferred Judd’s political views from the singer’s performance at Mar-a-Lago. She apologized if she was wrong. Judd’s performance took place in November 2023 at an event associated with the America First Policy Institute, according to reports.
