DATA Network Plans Move to Sui and Chain Retirement
DATA Foundation and Sui Foundation announced a plan to move DATA Network onto the Sui blockchain and retire its independent chain after the transition. The partnership includes a $30 million investment from Sui Foundation, which is set to become DATA Network’s largest institutional holder, the foundations said on October 12. Under the plan, DATA Network will operate as a protocol on Sui once an upgrade is complete. Its current blockchain will remain operational until then. The foundations have not announced a migration date and said they will publish a detailed timeline and instructions for token holders before the upgrade begins. The existing DATA token is expected to move to Sui on a one-for-one basis, according to the partnership announcement. The foundations also said existing governance rights and vesting arrangements will carry over. The reports did not establish whether the entire $30 million has transferred or specify the valuation or exact token stake associated with the investment. The move also brings Trace, DATA Foundation’s registry for tracking the origins and usage rights of AI training data, onto Sui.
