Conspiracy claims followed Flydubai emergency within 67 minutes
Online conspiracy claims blaming Israel, Jews and Zionists for the Flydubai flight emergency began circulating within 67 minutes of the aircraft’s first distress signal, according to the Combat Antisemitism Movement’s Antisemitism Research Center. The center said it counted 2,963 such posts on X during a 12-hour monitoring period after the September 30 incident. The posts alleged that the event was staged or orchestrated by Israel, the Mossad, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Zionists or Jews. The center said the first post of this kind appeared 67 minutes after the signal. Its count and timing come from one organization’s monitoring, repeated in several reports, rather than separate independent measurements. A separate analysis by the Anti-Defamation League counted at least 25,000 X posts containing conspiracy narratives about the incident during its first 48 hours. That analysis excluded posts merely discussing the event or the spread of the trend. The two totals cover different periods and use different inclusion rules, so they are not directly comparable.
