Reddit to End RSS Feeds and Restrict Old Reddit Access

Reddit plans to end support for RSS feeds on November 13 and further restrict access to its Old Reddit interface, saying the changes are intended to curb large-scale scraping and automated abuse. The company also plans to end public API access by March 2027, a move that could affect apps and tools that retrieve Reddit conversations programmatically. Reddit said moderators who use RSS for alerts can move to the Discord Relay app. It has identified no replacement for feeds used to follow posts outside communities a person moderates, leaving those users without the same RSS access after the shutdown. Reddit recommended that moderators review their setups and move workflows before November 13. The company said Old Reddit, its classic text-focused version of the site, will in the coming months be available only to logged-in users who have used the interface recently. Moderators will be exempt from the recent-use requirement. Reports differ on whether the lookback period will be 90 days or six months, and Reddit’s definitive eligibility window remains unclear.
