Closing Arguments Begin in Tupac Shakur Murder Trial

Closing arguments began Monday in a Las Vegas courtroom in the murder trial of Duane Keffe D. Davis, a former Los Angeles gang leader accused of orchestrating the 1996 drive-by shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur. The case, one of the most famous cold cases in American history, centers on the killing of the influential hip-hop artist nearly 30 years ago. Prosecutors argue that Davis, 63, a onetime leader of the South Side Compton Crips, ordered the attack in retaliation for a fight involving his nephew earlier that night. Chief Deputy District Attorney Binu Palal told jurors that Davis acquired a firearm and went "hunting" for Shakur and Death Row Records co-founder Marion Suge Knight.
