Clayton beats Humphries to win Swiss Darts Trophy

Jonny Clayton defeated Luke Humphries 8-4 in the Swiss Darts Trophy final on October 11, earning his first ranking title of 2026 and a place at the Grand Slam of Darts in November. The Welshman’s victory in Basel also marked his fourth European Tour title. The final was closely contested before Clayton took control late. The players were level at 4-4, and Clayton then won four successive legs to secure the trophy. Humphries had opportunities to break, but Clayton’s finishing proved decisive. In one key leg, Humphries missed the bullseye while attempting a 164 checkout, and Clayton took the leg to move 6-4 ahead. Clayton finished the match with a 46 checkout, completing an 8-4 win. Match statistics reported by one account showed Humphries narrowly ahead on average, 101.75 to Clayton’s 101.68. Clayton’s checkout success was reported at 61.54%, compared with 22.22% for Humphries. The title ended Clayton’s wait for a ranking win since May 2025, according to tournament coverage. It also secured his qualification for the Grand Slam of Darts, scheduled for November.
