Chargers’ Rashawn Slater expected to miss multiple weeks

Published 5 October 2026

Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater is expected to miss multiple weeks after tests on Monday confirmed a high-ankle sprain, according to a report attributed to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. The Chargers have not provided a return date, and the reports do not include the MRI findings or an official team announcement confirming the diagnosis. Slater was injured during the Chargers’ Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, 30-23. The defeat left Los Angeles with an 0-4 record. Earlier Monday, reports citing Rapoport said initial examinations suggested a high-ankle sprain and that an MRI was planned to assess the injury. The later account said tests had confirmed the sprain, while the precise extent and recovery timeline remained unclear. The expected absence is another setback for a team already dealing with injuries along its offensive line. Right tackle Joe Alt left the Seattle game with a neck injury, and the Chargers also had other line-related injury concerns, according to reports. The team has not announced how it will arrange its offensive line while Slater is unavailable. Slater, 27, started the Chargers’ first four games this season.
