Blizzard Reveals WoW Expansion Finale and Classic-Style Forever Game

Published 14 September 2026

Blizzard Entertainment unveiled the next two chapters of World of Warcraft's ongoing Worldsoul Saga and a new permanent version of the classic game at its BlizzCon 2026 event. The announcements included the Eclipse patch for the current Midnight expansion, the final expansion titled The Last Titan, and the launch of World of Warcraft Forever. The company revealed a cinematic trailer for Eclipse, the upcoming 12.2 patch for the Midnight expansion. The trailer depicts the saga's central villain, Xalatath, approaching the Titans-protected World Core of Azeroth. Game director Ion Hazzikostas stated that after setting up narrative elements in previous updates, the story will now accelerate, describing it as "all gas, no brakes" from this point forward. Following the Eclipse reveal, Blizzard teased The Last Titan, which will serve as the 12th expansion for World of Warcraft and the concluding chapter of the Worldsoul Saga. Hazzikostas described the expansion as "the culmination of over two decades of World of Warcraft" storytelling. A brief teaser showed a colossal figure in the snowy peaks of Northrend.
