BCCI opens applications for men’s selector vacancy
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has opened applications for one vacancy on its senior men’s selection committee, setting an October 14 deadline and requiring candidates to meet playing and retirement criteria. The board said shortlisted applicants will be called for personal interviews. No appointment has been announced. The position became vacant after Ajit Agarkar’s tenure as chief selector ended on October 4, according to the reports. The BCCI’s announcement on October 6 said the committee member will help select the senior men’s team across formats, identify talent and build depth in the squad. Applicants must have played at least seven Test matches, 30 first-class matches, or 10 One Day Internationals and 20 first-class matches. The published qualifications also require candidates to have retired from the game at least five years before applying. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Indian Standard Time on October 14, 2026. The role includes assessing players in domestic and international cricket, attending team meetings and traveling to matches as required.
