Audi Plans Hinwil F1 Campus, Targeting Completion in 2030
Audi has announced plans for a new Formula 1 campus in Hinwil, Switzerland, with parts of the facility already operational and full development scheduled for completion in 2030. The project expands the manufacturer’s Swiss base as it builds its works-team operation, though its eventual effect on racing performance has not been established. The new campus is on Zurichstrasse, less than one kilometre from Audi’s existing Hinwil site on Wildbachstrasse. Audi says elements of the new facility began operating in summer 2026, while development will continue toward the planned 2030 completion. The company has not disclosed the project’s cost or provided a detailed account of all the facilities it will contain. The Wildbachstrasse site is to remain operational during the development. Audi says it will later be redeveloped as the team’s manufacturing centre and wind-tunnel operation. The company’s Formula 1 power-unit development and manufacturing will remain in Neuburg, Germany, while its technical centre will continue operating in Bicester, United Kingdom. The arrangement keeps key parts of Audi’s racing programme across three locations.
