Aston Martin confirms Alonso and Stroll for 2027

Aston Martin has confirmed that Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will remain its Formula 1 drivers for the 2027 season, preserving the team’s current pairing as it seeks to improve after a difficult 2026 campaign. The announcement secures Alonso’s continuation beyond the end of his existing contract, which was due to expire after this season. Alonso said he was motivated to keep racing and committed to helping Aston Martin succeed. The two-time world champion joined the team for the 2023 season after leaving Alpine. He scored six podiums in his first eight races with Aston Martin and two more later that year, but the team has since struggled to sustain that form. After 15 rounds of the 2026 season, Aston Martin had three constructors’ points and stood 10th in the standings. Alonso scored all three points, according to the reported totals.
