Arsenal’s Hincapie and Zubimendi to miss Lille match

Published 12 October 2026

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said Piero Hincapie and Martin Zubimendi will miss Tuesday’s Champions League match against Lille after both were injured in a post-match training session. The club was awaiting further scans to assess the injuries, and Arteta said Hincapie’s appeared more serious. The injuries occurred after Arsenal’s 2-1 Premier League win over Leeds United on Saturday, October 10. Arteta said the session was arranged for players who had not received enough minutes in the match, so they could maintain fitness and regain rhythm. Hincapie had come on as a substitute late in the game, while Zubimendi was among the substitutes. Speaking before the Lille fixture on Monday, Arteta said both players would undergo additional scans and that the club did not yet have recovery timelines. He said more information might be available on Tuesday, but did not specify how long either player would be sidelined. Arteta described Hincapie’s injury as potentially more serious, while emphasizing that the assessment was not final. Reports differed over the precise injury locations, so those details were not established in Arteta’s publicly reported update.
