Apple Launches First Foldable iPhone Duo

Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the unveiling of its first foldable device, the iPhone Duo. The company announced the new device on September 9, 2026, marking a significant expansion into a segment previously dominated by competitors. Preorders for the iPhone Duo are scheduled to begin on October 16, with sales commencing on October 23 in key markets including the United States, India, Japan, and the UAE. The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner folding display and a 5.4-inch outer screen. It is powered by Apple's A20 Pro chip and includes a dual 48-megapixel rear camera system. The device also incorporates an under-display FaceTime camera and relies exclusively on eSIM connectivity, omitting a physical SIM card tray globally. Apple claims the device offers up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner screen and up to 44 hours using the outer display, though real-world battery performance and durability remain subject to independent testing. Pricing for the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the United States for a 256GB model. Other configurations and international pricing vary, with the top-end 2TB model in the US priced at $3,199.
