Amad posts angry reaction after United lose to Atlético

Published 14 October 2026

Manchester United winger Amad Diallo posted an angry reaction after the club’s 2-0 Champions League defeat by Atlético Madrid on Tuesday, while defender Lisandro Martínez publicly called for greater investment in the squad and said he expected more from technical director Jason Wilcox. Amad shared a Snapchat caption reading, “F***ing disgrace, I have no words.” The 24-year-old came on as a substitute during the second half. His post did not specify what he was condemning, and it is not clear whether he meant United’s performance, Leny Yoro’s dismissal or another matter. Martínez’s comments came in a post-match interview. He said United needed more players to compete and that he expected more from the club’s leadership and Wilcox. He also acknowledged that the players had to do more themselves, and said Atlético deserved to win. United were trailing when Yoro was sent off in the second half. Atlético’s Ademola Lookman scored after the dismissal to complete the victory. The result added to scrutiny of United’s start to the season, but the players’ public remarks do not establish the extent of any wider dissatisfaction within the squad.
