Manchester United Held 1-1 by 10-Man Tottenham

Published 10 October 2026

Manchester United drew 1-1 with Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday after Dominic Solanke scored a stoppage-time equaliser, extending scrutiny of manager Michael Carrick following another dropped lead against a side reduced to 10 players. United took the lead through Bryan Mbeumo in the second half. Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off soon afterward following an incident involving Luke Shaw, but United could not protect their advantage. Solanke headed in during added time to earn Tottenham a point. Carrick said United should have closed out the match and that the late goal left his team disappointed. He also acknowledged that the boos heard at the final whistle hurt, while saying he understood supporters’ reaction when results are poor. The draw left United 12th in the Premier League table, with six points. The reports differ on whether that total came after five or six league matches, so the match count is not included here. Tottenham remained without a league win and in the relegation zone, according to the match coverage. Carrick said United had improved after a difficult first half but had not managed the game well enough once ahead.
