The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two distinct areas of the Atlantic Ocean for potential tropical development this week, both with the possibility of becoming the season's next named storm, Dolly. The systems were being tracked as of Monday, August 24, 2026. The primary area of interest is a tropical wave that moved off the west coast of Africa over the weekend. As of the center's 8 a.m. advisory, the system was producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms and moving westward at 15 to 20 mph.
