World Cup ticket applications top one million
The International Cricket Council says ticket applications for the 2027 men’s Cricket World Cup topped one million within about three days of the ballot opening on October 1, with the India-Pakistan group-stage match drawing the most demand so far. The tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21, 2027. More than 320,000 fans had registered for the ballot, according to figures attributed to the ICC. Applications cover matches across the three host countries. For the October 10 meeting between India and Pakistan in Johannesburg, accounts citing ICC figures put demand above 100,000; one reported the total at more than 110,000. The available accounts do not explain the difference. Other matches also attracted strong early interest. Reported applications exceeded 86,000 for South Africa against India and 80,000 for India against Australia. A potential India-Pakistan fixture in a later stage drew 78,000 applications, while the November 21 final had nearly 65,000 in one account and more than 69,000 in another. Those figures reflect early ballot applications, not tickets allocated or expected attendance.
