WNBA imposes no additional discipline on A’ja Wilson

Published 1 October 2026

The WNBA will not impose additional discipline on Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson after an in-game review concluded she remained on the court during a confrontation with an Indiana Fever fan, according to a person familiar with the ruling. Wilson was not ejected over the incident, and the fan was allowed to return to his seat after a separate review found he had not violated the WNBA’s Fan Code of Conduct. The incident occurred late in Game 2 of the playoff series at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Wilson was assessed a technical foul during the game after approaching the fan, who had stood and pointed in her direction. Indiana went on to win 99-89, leveling the series and setting up a decisive Game 3. The person familiar with the WNBA ruling said officials reviewed the incident during the game and determined Wilson had not left the court area. A report on the league’s review identified the player escape lane beside the basket stanchion as the area Wilson occupied. Officials treated that lane as part of the court, rather than the spectator stands, where deliberate entry by a player can trigger automatic ejection. Wilson said after the game that the fan had shouted and pointed at her.
