Mitchell's performance brought her season total to 1,034 points, surpassing the previous record of 1,021 points set by Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson in 2024. The milestone came during an expanded 44-game regular season, which provided players with more opportunities to accumulate statistics compared to the previous 40-game schedule. The WNBA has announced that the season will expand further to 50 games beginning in 2027. Mitchell's record-setting night was complemented by a strong showing from teammate Caitlin Clark, who scored 28 points and dished out 14 assists. Clark's contributions helped the Fever maintain their position as one of the league's top offensive teams, leading the WNBA in scoring at 97.0 points per game and field goal percentage at 49.2 percent. Following the game, Fever coach Stephanie White praised both players, stating that they are legitimate candidates for the MVP award.
