Verstappen wins Singapore Grand Prix for first time

Published 11 October 2026

Max Verstappen won the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time on Sunday, leading all 62 laps from pole position and finishing 7.335 seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc. Kimi Antonelli took third after a late battle for the final podium place. The victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit marked Verstappen’s first win at the Singapore race after nine previous attempts, according to one race report. He also won the sprint and started from pole in both events, completing what that report described as a perfect weekend. The race classification recorded Leclerc second and Antonelli third. Verstappen’s post-race moment with Gianpiero Lambiase, his longtime race engineer, carried personal significance. Lambiase joined him on the podium, a gesture Verstappen said he had not expected. He said he was happy Lambiase was there and that it could be their last podium together, giving the occasion special meaning. Lambiase is expected to leave Red Bull at the end of the season and move to McLaren in 2028, according to a report. That account also said Red Bull plans to have Tom Hart engineer Verstappen at the United States, Brazilian and Las Vegas Grands Prix as it transitions to a replacement.
